A pussy by another name would smell as sweet…

How brave are you feeling today Travellers?

Because I’m ready to have this conversation, it’s only taken me two years to get here. It’s taken me awhile to choose the arena but here we are… And really this is just a tip of the iceberg conversation. A little dalliance in etymology if you will.

Let’s talk about the word pussy and why I chose the name of my blog. I’ve had people suggest that I change the name, because of that word. It’s either inappropriate or offensive or too overtly sexual, or so I’ve been told…I’m going to go back to the start,  not because I owe you this explanation but because I owe myself and Mopsy a little bit of braveness to talk about it.

P.S. She’s gone…

Dear Fellow Travellers,

I have come here heart in hand to tell you, Mopsy has left the building.

As usual the universe is not without a sense of humor/timing/irony. I was working on that last post, which if you have not read, please do, and just as I was almost done, on Saturday morning, I went outside and saw the moving van down the street. It’s funny, their house had been for sale for nearly six months and Mopsy retuned about a month ago. It’s almost like she returned just in time to leave again.

Gobsmacked. I love that word. This is a moment that deserves the word gobsmacked…Maybe if you aren’t a paticularly emotional human, this will all seem like an dramatic exaggeration but still, it happened just as I’m about to describe…

To begin with, I had had a Thursday. The kind of day where you are convinced that you have failed at life. Not because you don’t have a job or a home or a family, but failed because you could have done it better. In a more soul satisfying way. You should have found your purpose. At a younger age. I was battling the feeling like I’m too late, too late to start building something anew. And that’s really the jump off point…
